MUS 115 - Music Theory I 3 Credit Hours
Begins the study of Tonal Harmony in the “Common Practice” period of the eighteenth century. The musical materials involved are keys, intervals, triads, and chords that are fundamental and characteristic of this style period. Rules of harmonic progression are studied thoroughly in preparation for the ensuing course Harmony II.
Prerequisite: Passing score on Theory Placement Exam or a minimum grade of “C” in MUS 101 and MUS 126 . Concurrent: This course is to be taken concurrently with MUS 126 .
